URBAN MEGUŠAR

Urban Megušar is a Slovenian cellist, improvisor and chamber musician. With his venturous character and restless curiosity, Urban is striving to bring out the endless possibilities that his instrument has to offer. 

 

Thank to his stylistic versatility, Urban is a part of many different projects. As a chamber musician he is a grounding member of Trio Tempestoso and Folk-Trio Lumi. He has been collaborating with the Czech Theathre Group Divadlo Continuo on the music for the play Poledne, that aired between 2017 and 2022. Additionally he is working with the Slovenian Institute for New Music “.abeceda”, being a part of the New Music Ensemble as well as a participating composer.

 

Urban has been performing in concert houses such as: Konzerthaus Berlin and Musikverein in Graz and on festivals such as: Steirisches Kammermusik Festival, Festival Ljubljana, Unerhörte Musik Berlin, Mooste Folk Festival, Jazz Ljubljana Festival, to name a few.

 

He studied at the University for Music and performing Arts in Graz (Austria) with Prof. Julian Arp. Currently he is pursuing Chamber music studies with Trio Tempestoso at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin with Prof. Martin Spangenberg in addition to his Music Performance studies at the Norwegian Music Academy, where he is working with Tanja Orning.
