Cellist Katarina Leskovar performs internationally as a soloist, chamber and orchestral musician. As a dynamic performer, her work has received numerous international awards, most recently the Tunnell Trust Award with the Talos String Quartet. 

 

Katarina has performed at renowned venues including the Beethoven-Haus Bonn, the Musikverein and Konzerthaus Vienna, the Alte Oper Frankfurt, the Semperoper Dresden, the Cité Internationale des Arts Paris, KKL Luzern, the Concertgebouw Amsterdam and Daegu Concert House. She has also been invited to festivals such as the Lucerne Festival, Davos Festival, IMS Prussia Cove, Musica Andeer, Warsaw Autumn, Klangspuren Festival, and the Hohenstaufen Chamber Music Festival. She has a strong interest in discovering music by living composers and has premiered numerous new works by composers including Beat Furrer, Thomas Kessler, Svetlana Maraš, Judit Varga, and Uroš Rojko. In 2026, she was invited with Ensemble Lemniscate to a residency at Harvard University. Katarina has collaborated with directors such as Christoph Marthaler and Franziska Kronfoth. As a member of the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester, she performed alongside the Staatskapelle Dresden under renowned conductors including Herbert Blomstedt, Jonathan Nott, and Christian Thielemann.

 

Katarina completed her soloist studies at the Universität der Künste in Berlin and previously studied cello at the Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber in Dresden, the Hochschule für Musik in Basel and the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Graz in the classes of Danjulo Ishizaka and Julian Arp, as well as contemporary music with the ensemble zone expérimentale. She also completed an internship with the Basel Sinfonietta.
